A Clinical Analysis of 40 Cases with Spondylolisthesis

Abstract
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to estimate, in the patients with spondylolisthesis, the relationships between the improvement of symptom and the number of Chuna treatment, between the improvement of symptom and additional complications(herniated intervertebral disc, stenosis), and between the improvement of symptom and the level of spondylolisthesis.

Methods: We investigated the 40 cases of outpatients who were diagnosed as the spondylolisthesis on X-ray, lumbar C.T.(computerized tomography) or MRI(magnetic resonance imaging) and were treated more than one time with chuna treatment in Jaseng Oriental Medicine Hospital from June 12, 2000 to June 17, 2000. The patients were mainly treated with Chuna therapy and Chuna medicine therapy, in addition to being respectively, applicably treated in accordance with patient¡¯s symptoms with acupuncture and moxibustion therapy, oriental physical therapy, exercise therapy, etc. We evaluated the symptoms by four grade of poor, fair, good and excellent.

Results and Conclusions: The improvement of symptom was relative to the number of Chuna treatment and in the case of additional complications(herniated intervertebral disc, stenosis) the improvement of symptom was fair, and spondylolisthesis L4 on L5 was better than spondylolisthesis L5 on S1 in the improvement of symptom.
